MATH
In
Chapter 14 we are learning about numbers to 100. In Chapter 15 we will learn about Money. Students will be learning
to identify and count coins. Now is a
great time to start practicing- you might have your child count their lunch
money or count the coins in your change purse.
We
are reading new stories each week.
Please ask your child to share his/ her favorite story with you. Keep practicing those High Frequency words found in the Reading Connection Booklet that
is sent home every week. Also Book-It
continues this month…Keep Reading!
SCIENCE
We
are finishing our unit on the Sun, Earth, and Moon. We completed lots of neat activities and a
Sun and Shadow experiment. Our next unit
will be on Force and Motion. This unit
will focus on hands-on learning activities that your child is sure to enjoy.
SOCIAL STUDIES
We
will be learning about our Presidents Washington and Lincoln in celebration of
President’s Day.
HEALTH
February
is National Children’s Dental Health month. We will be learning about our teeth and how
to keep them healthy.
SPECIAL CELEBRATIONS
Valentine’s Day is coming! Attached you will find a list of the students in our 1st
Grade class for the Valentine Card Exchange.
Please send in 1 valentine for every student in the class for February
14th. In our classroom we
will be making special Valentine Mailboxes for all of our cards.
100th Day- A celebration will be held this month to celebrate
100 days of learning and working together in 1st Grade. The day will
be filled with a variety of activities that focus on 100.
