Kingwood Township Education Foundation

2007-2008

 What is the KTEF?

The Kingwood Township Education Foundation (KTEF) is a non-profit community organization committed to fostering and encouraging creativity in educational activities by enhancing the core curriculum of the Kingwood Township School.

What does the KTEF do?

The KTEF strives to prepare our students for the future by facilitating programs that inspire a connection between textbook and real life experiences that would not have been available in the traditional school budget. Every Kingwood Township School student benefits from the programs, projects, field trips and equipment funded by the KTEF.

Our Kingwood Township School students have had the opportunity to participate in theatre and its production; use innovative technology; create and design their own music with newly purchased guitars, keyboards, software and other equipment; engage with professionals who support curriculum through assembly programs; experience historical and scientific trips such as reliving history at an 18 th century interactive village and exploring Old World Philadelphia; and much more.

How does the KTEF raise funds?

Thanks to the support of our community, school staff, students and parents, the Foundation raises funds through galas, auctions, holiday card sales, corporate gifts and private donations. The money that is raised goes back to the students in the form of teacher-proposed educational grants. The grants are rewarded twice a year through a submission and review process.

What types of educational activities are funded?

Over the past 6 years, the KTEF has raised over $120,000 that has gone directly to fund innovative programming for KTS Kindergarten through 8 th grade students. Programs funded for the 2007-2008 school year include:

  • Professional Storyteller Student Assembly and Teacher Workshop (In-School Activities)
  • Legends of the Night Sky Portable Planetarium (In-School Activity)
  • From Producer to Consumer (Field Trips to Local Farm, Mill and Market)
  • Don Quixote Spanish-Language Play (Field Trip)
  • Make a Note Musical Notation Software (In-School Classroom Enrichment)
  • Jump, Frog, Jump! Ballet Performance (In-School Assembly)
  • Forest Friends Puppet Program (In-School Assemblies)
  • Spanish Culture (In-School Assembly)
  • Quiet Valley Historical Farm (Field Trip)
